Rally in Stockholm Condemns Israeli Military Actions in Gaza, Lebanon
(MENAFN) Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in central Stockholm on Saturday to protest Israel’s military operations in the Palestinian territories and Lebanon.
The rally, organized by multiple civil society groups in Odenplan Square, denounced what participants described as Israeli strikes in the occupied West Bank and Lebanon.
Protesters displayed banners with messages such as “Children are being killed in Gaza,” “Schools and hospitals are being bombed,” “Stop the attacks on Lebanon,” and “End food shortages,” calling for an immediate halt to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. They also urged Sweden to suspend arms exports to Israel.
A number of Iranian participants also took part in the demonstration, voicing opposition to both US and Israeli policies.
Among the speakers, Swedish activist Aydin Amir Hashimi of Azerbaijani origin argued that Israel would not be able to carry out such actions in Gaza without support from Western governments.
“Without the support of the Western world, Israel could not have taken these steps against the Palestinians,” Hashimi told a media outlet.
He further claimed that Western countries were contributing to the situation through what he described as logistical, political, and legal backing, adding that Palestinian activism has been suppressed across Europe and the United States.
