Pakistan, Egypt Voice Support for Advancing US-Iran Negotiations
(MENAFN) Pakistan and Egypt have welcomed recent advances in discussions between the United States and Iran, expressing optimism that the diplomatic process will soon lead to an agreement capable of reducing tensions across the Middle East.
According to a statement, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation late Friday, during which they praised the positive developments in ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional stability.
The two officials reviewed the latest situation in the Middle East and voiced hope that continued dialogue between Washington and Tehran would result in a swift and productive resolution.
They also agreed to maintain regular communication and continue coordinating on matters of shared concern.
Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the United States and Iran had finalized the “final text” of an agreement intended to bring an end to the conflict.
Pakistan has played a mediating role between the two sides since helping secure a ceasefire on April 8, which halted fighting that had erupted on Feb. 28.
