Iran Accuses US of Targeting Civilian Water Infrastructure in S. Region
(MENAFN) Iran’s Foreign Ministry has accused the United States of deliberately striking civilian water infrastructure in southern Iran, an attack it says has cut off drinking water for thousands of residents.
According to reports, ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei made the allegation in a post on X, claiming US forces targeted water facilities in Sirik, located in Hormozgan province.
He wrote, “Water is the pulse of life -- and the U.S. is deliberately targeting the lifeblood of the Iranian people.”
Baqaei said the strike destroyed two water reservoirs with a total capacity of 2,500 cubic meters, which he said previously supplied drinking water to more than 20,000 people across 10 villages.
He added, “This is not collateral damage -- it is a calculated war crime and a flagrant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law.”
