Iran Conducts Missile Strikes on US-Linked Targets in Regional Escalation
(MENAFN) Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has released footage showing missile launches it claims were directed at US military-related sites across several countries in the Middle East, describing the operation as retaliation for recent American strikes.
According to statements attributed to the IRGC, the action followed a series of US attacks inside Iran, which Washington said were carried out after the loss of an Apache military helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. US officials have described their strikes as “defensive” and “proportional,” maintaining that the aircraft incident occurred in connection with hostile activity in the region.
Iranian authorities, however, dispute aspects of the US account. As stated by reports, Tehran has questioned the characterization of the maritime area involved and rejected claims regarding the circumstances of the incident.
The IRGC claimed its retaliatory operation targeted multiple facilities and assets linked to US forces across the region, including locations in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. Among the alleged targets were positions associated with naval and air force infrastructure, as well as drones and aircraft-related facilities.
Footage released by Iranian sources reportedly shows nighttime missile launches, with the IRGC stating that drones were also deployed and that more than twenty targets were engaged across several countries. Regional authorities have reported interceptions of incoming projectiles, with some confirming the activation of air defense systems and warning sirens in response.
Jordan’s military stated it intercepted several ballistic missiles, while officials in Kuwait also reported intercepting aerial objects. In Bahrain, reports indicated that air raid sirens were activated during the incident.
Separately, Iran has said it previously carried out strikes against targets in Israel, describing those actions as responses to ongoing regional military developments. Israeli forces later conducted retaliatory operations despite calls from external actors, including the US president, urging restraint.
The situation reflects a broader escalation involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, with multiple overlapping military exchanges contributing to heightened tensions across the region.
