Burson Creates Unified EMEA Technology Leadership Structure

LONDON - Burson has unveiled a new leadership structure for its EMEA technology practice, appointing Axicom EMEA president Isobel Coney to the newly created role of EMEA technology practice leader as it further integrates its specialist technology communications capabilities across the region.
Under the new structure, Coney will oversee both the Burson and Axicom technology brands in EMEA while continuing as president of Axicom EMEA. The move comes several months after Burson began bringing Axicom more closely into its operations following the departure of a number of senior leaders from the technology specialist agency.
Burson said the new structure reflected growing client demand for specialist technology communications expertise, with the agency group seeking to combine Axicom's sector focus with Burson's broader capabilities and global scale.
The move follows the news in April that Burson would be moving to more fully integrate Axicom into its technology business, triggering the exits of Axicom global CEO Matt Lackie, global chief operating officer Rosie Bannister and chief experience officer Kate Stevens.
Alongside Coney's expanded remit, the agency has announced a series of senior promotions within Axicom.
Abbie Hughes has been named head of Axicom UK, having played a key role in leading the business over the past year. Meanwhile, Asim Qureshi has been promoted to senior director, digital and innovation; Sarah Taylor becomes senior associate director, enterprise technology; Mercedes Harvey has been promoted to senior associate director, global consumer campaigns; and Emily Avant has been named associate director, UK consumer communications.
Coney said: "Technology brands are navigating an extraordinary moment. The market demands communications partners who combine genuine specialist depth with the scale to operate globally and the creativity to cut through.
"The dual-brand model we have built gives us exactly that advantage. The team I have around me is one of the strongest I have worked with in twenty years in this industry and we are already seeing the results in how clients are choosing to work with us."
Burson EMEA CEO Jon Hughes added: "Isobel has had an exceptional impact since taking on the president of Axicom EMEA role, and this new position reflects both our confidence in her leadership and our ambition for the technology practice.
"The promotions of Abbie, Asim, Sarah, Mercedes and Emily tell the same story. This is a team built for the next chapter of technology communications, at a time when genuine specialist talent has never been higher and when the ability to connect that talent across global markets has never mattered more."
