Trump Predicts Near-Term “Total Victory” Over Iran Amid Renewed Tensions

(MENAFN) According to reports, US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States could achieve what he described as “total victory” over Iran within a two-week timeframe, adding that Tehran was “willing to give us everything.”

The remarks were made on Monday, shortly after Iran and Israel paused their most intense round of fighting since an earlier ceasefire agreement in April. On the same day, Iran announced it was ending its attacks on Israel but warned that it would respond with “crushing” force if Israeli military activity in Lebanon continued.

The latest escalation followed a surge in violence over the weekend, when Israeli strikes on Beirut prompted retaliatory missile fire from Iran toward northern Israel, which was then met with additional Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets.

Speaking during a tele-rally for Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, Trump said, “We’ve been a very tough team, and I think we are winning that battle, but you’re really going to win it over the next two weeks when we declare total victory,” adding, “It’ll be a total victory, it will happen very soon, and oil prices will come tumbling down.”

He also claimed that Iranian officials were seeking a “very good deal” and would be prepared to make wide-ranging concessions, including commitments related to nuclear weapons development.

This is not the first time Trump has forecast an imminent breakthrough with Iran. Since the April ceasefire announcement, he has repeatedly suggested that negotiations were close to completion. Over the past two months, he has made or implied similar predictions dozens of times, although no formal agreement has yet been reached.
