Bahrain Says It Intercepted Iranian Missile, Drone Attacks
(MENAFN) Bahrain announced on Wednesday that its air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed what it described as multiple Iranian aerial attacks during a period of heightened regional escalation.
According to reports, the Bahraini army said in a statement posted on social media that Iran carried out what it called “treacherous” missile and drone strikes targeting civilians in the kingdom.
Tehran, the statement added, “continues its systematic hostile approach through its sinful attacks using missiles and drones targeting civilians” in Bahrain.
“The General Command affirms that all its weapons and units are at the highest levels of readiness and are fully prepared for defense to protect the Kingdom,” the army said.
Authorities also urged residents to remain cautious and avoid handling any suspicious debris, warning the public to report any such objects linked to what it described as remnants of attacks.
The army further stated that deliberately targeting civilians and private property with missiles and drones “constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.”
Earlier, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry activated nationwide warning sirens after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for targeting the US Fifth Fleet stationed in the country.
According to reports, the incident occurred amid ongoing military exchanges involving Iran and US-linked forces across the region.
