Hamas Says Progress Reached on Key Gaza Truce Disputes After Cairo Talks
(MENAFN) Hamas announced on Tuesday that “acceptable approaches” have been reached regarding several contentious points in ongoing Gaza ceasefire negotiations with Israel following discussions held in Cairo.
Spokesman Hazem Qassem told a media outlet that the latest round of talks in the Egyptian capital produced what he described as workable understandings between the parties involved in the negotiations over disputed elements of the agreement.
He did not provide further details about the specific issues where progress was made.
Qassem added that Hamas and other Palestinian factions have engaged with mediator proposals from Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye in what he described as a flexible and constructive manner, citing what he called a national responsibility to halt the ongoing war in Gaza.
He also said that responsibility now lies with the Israeli side and the “Board of Peace,” referring to its executive leadership, to move forward with implementing a broader peace framework for the enclave.
