Syria Foils ISIS Plots, Carries Out Major Security Arrests in Three Months
(MENAFN) Syrian security forces have detained 235 individuals accused of terrorism and disrupted seven alleged ISIS operations over the past three months, according to the Interior Ministry on Tuesday, as stated by reports.
Official figures released by the ministry indicated that 80 suspects were arrested in March, 99 in April, and 56 in May as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
Authorities also said they successfully prevented seven planned attacks and dismantled seven militant cells operating across several regions, including Hama and Homs in central Syria, Deir ez-Zor in the east, Aleppo in the north, and the capital Damascus.
During the operations, security forces reportedly seized 22 explosive devices, 25 weapons, six vehicles, and 67 electronic devices, according to the ministry.
The Interior Ministry added that among those detained were 198 Syrian nationals and 37 foreign citizens.
Damascus joined the US-led coalition against Islamic State in November 2025. The coalition, formed in 2014, has conducted military operations against the group in both Syria and Iraq with participation from multiple countries.
