EU Removes Kyrgyzstan from Aviation Safety Blacklist
(MENAFN) Kyrgyzstan has been removed from the European Union’s aviation safety blacklist, according to the country’s Foreign Ministry.
According to reports, the ministry said in a Telegram statement on Monday that the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport confirmed all Kyrgyz-certified airlines have been taken off the EU Air Safety List. The list previously barred affected carriers from operating in European Union airspace.
The decision followed a meeting of the EU Aviation Safety Committee held in May and will be formally implemented through a European Commission regulation, the ministry said.
Kyrgyz airlines had been included on the blacklist since 2006 due to concerns over compliance with international aviation safety standards.
The ministry added that the European Commission acknowledged improvements in Kyrgyz aviation oversight, pointing to technical consultations, an assessment visit in March 2026, and hearings held in Brussels.
EU officials are expected to continue technical cooperation with Kyrgyz authorities to help ensure that safety improvements are maintained going forward.
