Istanbul Airport Adds 4 New Airlines
(MENAFN) IGA Istanbul Airport is broadening its global reach with the addition of four new carriers launching scheduled services from the hub, bolstering the city's air connectivity across Central Asia and the Middle East, the airport's operator IGA announced.
The airport, which already partners with more than 100 airlines and serves upward of 340 destinations worldwide, is cementing its standing as a major global aviation hub through a fresh wave of commercial agreements.
Uzbek carrier Fly Khiva was first out of the gate, inaugurating direct twice-weekly flights on the Termez (TMJ)–Istanbul route on May 30.
Iranian operator Varesh Airlines followed shortly after, launching scheduled passenger services on the Tehran (THR)–Istanbul corridor on June 3.
That same day, fellow Iranian carrier Fly Kish also commenced scheduled passenger operations along the identical Tehran–Istanbul route. The dual launches are expected to meaningfully boost seat capacity between the two cities.
Rounding out the expansion, Iraqi carrier Basra Airlines is set to enter the Baghdad (BGW)–Istanbul market on June 12, with five weekly frequencies planned from the outset.
Together, the four additions signal IGA Istanbul Airport's continued drive to deepen its reach into high-demand regional markets, reinforcing Istanbul's role as a critical transit and destination hub bridging Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
