Xi Pledges Stronger China–North Korea Cooperation
(MENAFN) Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday pledged to deepen cooperation between China and North Korea while emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region during talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang.
During his first visit to the North Korean capital in seven years, Xi said China is “ready to expand” practical cooperation with North Korea across a range of sectors, including trade, the economy, agriculture, construction, science and technology, and healthcare, according to state media reports.
He also stressed the need for both countries to “firmly safeguard” their sovereignty, security, and development interests.
Highlighting broader regional concerns, Xi said China and North Korea “should jointly maintain regional peace and development.”
The Chinese leader further called for closer engagement between the two nations through expanded practical cooperation, continued high-level exchanges, stronger political trust, and initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to their populations.
Xi added that he is prepared to work closely with Kim to further develop bilateral relations and better align the long-term development strategies of both countries.
