Macron Congratulates Pashinyan on Winning, Supports EU Closer Ties

(MENAFN) French President Emmanuel Macron has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan following his election victory and reiterated France’s backing for closer relations between Armenia and Europe.

Writing on the US social media platform X, Macron said he looked forward to continuing joint efforts to “further strengthen our cooperation in the service of our peoples, support peace and Armenia’s sovereignty, and accompany the country's growing rapprochement with Europe.”

He also described Pashinyan’s result as a “resounding victory” after his Civil Contract party secured a parliamentary majority.

Preliminary figures released by the Central Electoral Commission, after all 2,005 polling stations were counted, show Civil Contract leading with 49.81% of the vote, according to state media reports.
