New Explosions Hit Tehran as Iran-Israel Strikes Intensify

(MENAFN) A new wave of explosions shook Tehran on Monday amid escalating military exchanges between Iran and Israel.

Iran’s state broadcaster reported that blasts were heard in western parts of the capital, adding that air defense systems were activated across the city. Separate reports from the local news outlet on Telegram said air defenses were also engaged in Kermanshah in western Iran.

Israel’s public broadcaster aired footage it said showed an Israeli strike targeting military infrastructure in southern Tehran. The broadcast came shortly after the Israeli military announced it had completed a “large-scale strike” against what it described as Iranian strategic defense systems.

The latest developments follow heightened tensions that erupted after Israel struck Beirut on Sunday despite an ongoing ceasefire, prompting Iran to launch missile attacks toward northern Israel. Israel responded with multiple waves of airstrikes on Iranian territory.

The broader region has remained volatile since joint US and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February triggered retaliatory attacks on Israel and other countries hosting US military assets.
