Penn Station Stabbing Leaves Six Injured Ahead of NBA Finals
(MENAFN) Six people were injured in a stabbing incident at New York’s Penn Station on Sunday evening, raising security concerns ahead of upcoming NBA Finals events in the city.
The incident occurred as security had already been heightened around Madison Square Garden, which sits above the major transportation hub. The New York Knicks are scheduled to host the San Antonio Spurs for Games 3 and 4 on Monday and Wednesday, with anticipation building as the team aims for its first championship since 1973.
The New York City Fire Department said it received a call around 7 p.m. reporting multiple stabbing victims near the entrance at West 33rd Street and 7th Avenue.
Authorities reported that one person sustained serious injuries, while four others suffered moderate or minor wounds. Five of the victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital, and officials said none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
