Missile Fire Ffrom Iran Triggers Sirens Across Central, Southern Israel
(MENAFN) Sirens were activated on Monday across multiple cities in central and southern Israel following reported missile launches from Iran.
The Israeli military said it had identified incoming missile fire from Iran and confirmed that its air defense systems were engaged in efforts to intercept the projectiles.
Alerts were also reported in occupied East Jerusalem and parts of the West Bank as the missile threat spread.
Witnesses and reports indicated that explosions were seen and heard in the sky as interception systems attempted to neutralize the incoming missiles.
The escalation follows an earlier Israeli airstrike in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district despite a ceasefire, an action that Iranian officials said would be met with retaliation.
Overnight, missiles launched in three separate waves triggered air raid sirens across several northern Israeli cities, with around 10 projectiles reportedly fired in total.
Separately, the Israeli military also stated that it conducted strikes targeting areas in western and central Iran.
