E3 Leaders Stress Europe Must Be Central to Any Ukraine Peace Deal

(MENAFN) The leaders of Britain, France and Germany have said that European security interests must be fully protected in any future agreement aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, following high-level talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in London.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz—known collectively as the E3 group—reaffirmed their “unwavering support for Ukraine” and discussed next steps toward what they described as a “just and lasting peace.”

In a joint statement issued after the meeting, the leaders emphasized that Europe must play a central role in any settlement, working closely with Ukraine, other European partners, and the United States.

They also stressed that all diplomatic efforts should remain coordinated among Ukraine, Europe and Washington to ensure a unified approach to negotiations.

The statement strongly condemned Russia’s continued missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian cities, as well as what it called “irresponsible and dangerous” drone incursions into NATO territory.

The leaders also reviewed upcoming diplomatic milestones, including the G7 summit in France, the next meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, and a NATO summit in Ankara, where further coordination on military and political support for Ukraine is expected to be discussed.
