Trump Gets Briefed on Iran-Israel Missile Escalation

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump was reportedly updated on Sunday regarding a fresh escalation between Iran and Israel after missiles were launched from Tehran, according to reports.

The attack reportedly struck northern Israel, including the cities of Haifa and Nazareth, and marked what was described as Iran’s first strike on Israeli territory since a ceasefire took effect on April 8.

The missile launch came only hours after an Israeli airstrike in Beirut. Trump had earlier said he was “perturbed” by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s stance of "constantly fighting" with Lebanon.

Air raid sirens were activated across multiple locations in Israel as incoming missiles were detected, according to reports.

Israeli officials have pledged retaliation in response to the attack, while public broadcaster said preparations for a counter-response were being discussed.

The latest exchange underscores continued volatility in the region despite previous attempts to establish a ceasefire, with tensions once again rising between the involved parties.
