Cairo Hosts Renewed Efforts to Advance Next Stage of Gaza Ceasefire
(MENAFN) Palestinian factions and regional mediators reconvened in Cairo on Sunday for a second consecutive day of discussions focused on moving forward with the next stage of the Gaza ceasefire arrangement, according to reports.
Sources cited by reports said representatives from Palestinian groups, along with mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye, launched a fresh round of consultations aimed at finding mechanisms to implement the second phase of the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement.
According to the sources, delegates from all Palestinian factions are participating in the meetings, although the identities of those attending were not disclosed.
The talks come as mediating countries intensify efforts to overcome obstacles that have delayed the implementation of key provisions of the agreement. Reports indicate that Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye are working closely to bridge differences and revive momentum in the ceasefire process.
The latest meetings follow discussions that began on Saturday, when Hamas announced that Palestinian factions and mediators had gathered in Cairo to examine ways to complete the first phase of the agreement designed to end the Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip and pave the way for the next stage of implementation.
The renewed consultations are part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to sustain the ceasefire and advance negotiations on unresolved issues, according to reports.
