2026 Sohn Montreal: Hudson Bay's Sander Gerber On Risk And AI, And The Investors Powering The AI Era
In conversation with Mario Therrien of La Caisse, Gerber traced the path from that floor to the firm he built, the diversification statistic that carries his name, and a view of markets shaped as much by geopolitics as by spreadsheets. He was followed by a panel of senior infrastructure investors arguing over a different question: who pays for the power that artificial intelligence is about to consume, and how.
The two sessions rhymed. Gerber kept returning to the gap between risk a machine can measure and uncertainty it cannot. The infrastructure investors kept returning to a wall of demand that did not exist a few years ago, and the trillions of dollars now chasing it. Both are below.

Gerber is managing partner, chief executive, and chief investment officer of Hudson Bay Capital, a global multi-strategy firm that invests across equities, credit, and real estate with roughly 450 people. He is known for the Gerber Statistic, a measure of how securities move together that he developed and patented. He started out as an options floor trader on the American Stock Exchange. The Powering Our Future panel that followed him featured senior infrastructure heads from PSP Investments, KKR, Blackstone, and La Caisse.
