Ceremony in Ankara Strengthens Turkish-Nigerien Ties

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan formally greeted Nigerien leader Abdourahamane Tchiani on Thursday with a grand state ceremony in Ankara.

A mounted escort accompanied Tchiani’s convoy to the presidential compound, where Erdogan welcomed him at the main entrance.

After the welcoming procession, a military orchestra performed the national anthems of both nations. The event also displayed banners and troops symbolizing the 16 historic Turkic states and included a 21-cannon salute.

Tchiani reviewed the honor guard and exchanged greetings with soldiers before both leaders introduced their respective delegations.

The two presidents then stood for photographs in front of Turkish and Nigerien flags before beginning bilateral discussions.

Their agenda also includes leading interdelegation sessions, supervising the signing of accords, and holding a joint press briefing. Erdogan is expected to host a formal banquet later in the evening in tribute to Tchiani.

Several high-ranking Turkish officials were present at the ceremony, among them Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Defense Minister Yasar Guler, Trade Minister Omer Bolat, National Intelligence Organization head Ibrahim Kalin, and Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran.
