UAE Tightens Entry Rules From Three Countries Over Ebola

Doha, Qatar: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced new visa suspensions and entry restrictions, as precautionary measures against the Ebola virus, effective Saturday, June 6, 2026.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (UAEICP) said the measures apply to arrivals from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and South Sudan.

The decision takes effect at 1pm on Saturday, and may be extended depending on the health situation, the NCEMA said on its social media channels.

Under the new measures, all new visa issuance, including visit visas, for nationals of the three countries has been suspended. Entry to the UAE will also be restricted for travellers arriving from these countries, including those transiting through other countries.

Travellers who have spent more than 21 days outside the listed countries before arriving in the UAE will be permitted entry.

Cargo and transit flights between the UAE and the three countries will continue without disruption.

The authorities stated that they will continue to monitor global health developments in coordination with their local and international partners, assess any potential impact on other countries, and take the necessary measures in line with approved risk assessments and health standards.

The measures aim to protect public health and strengthen national preparedness, added the NCEMA.
