Nicholas Ross Smith is a Senior Lecturer of International Relations at The University of Waikato.

His research coalesces around the regional implications of great power rivalry and how relatively smaller states seek to navigate changing geopolitical environments. He is the author of two books and more than two dozen peer reviewed journal articles, including articles in 'International Affairs', 'The Journal of Politics', and 'Cambridge Review of International Affairs'.
