Russia Claims Seizure of Another Settlement in Southeastern Ukraine
(MENAFN) Russia said Thursday that its forces have taken control of a further settlement in southeastern Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, according to reports.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that its troops had seized the village of Huliaipilske, located around 16 kilometers (10 miles) west of Huliaipole, a town Moscow previously claimed to have captured in December. The settlement is referred to by Russian authorities as Komsomolske.
According to earlier Ukrainian military statements, Ukrainian forces reported that Russian troops conducted 37 separate assaults across 12 settlements on the Huliaipole front, including Huliaipilske.
Ukrainian officials have not yet issued a response to the latest Russian claim. As with many developments along the front line, independent verification remains difficult due to the ongoing conflict.
