Free learning platform brings real-world global education into UAE classrooms

(MENAFN- Alto ) As UAE schools place greater emphasis on global awareness, critical thinking and practical problem-solving, educators are increasingly looking for ways to make learning feel more connected to the real world. From sustainability and conservation to cultural understanding and community impact, students today are expected to engage with issues that extend far beyond the classroom.
Overseas expeditions remain one of the most powerful ways to deliver this kind of learning, immersing students in new cultures, environments and challenges that shape how they see the world. To extend that same spirit of real-world learning to every student, Camps International has developed Real World Studies (RWS), its free classroom and webinar-based learning platform that brings expedition values into everyday teaching.
Through the programme, students explore sustainability, conservation, community development and global citizenship while engaging directly with real-world projects and global communities, helping build the curiosity and confidence that often inspire future travel.
As part of the programme’s Camps Connect webinar series, students hear directly from Camps International leaders and project teams working across conservation and community initiatives worldwide, helping lessons feel more immediate, practical and globally connected.
GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi is one of the first schools in the region to introduce Real World Studies into its Primary Years Programme (PYP). Mark Ryan, Lead Teacher at GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi, shared his thoughts on its impact: “Through the Real-World Studies Webinar Series, students stepped beyond the classroom, making meaningful connections and deepening their understanding of global challenges linked to their PYPx research. The level of engagement and curiosity from our students was exceptional.”
Sharon Palmer, Managing Director at Camps International, added: “Travel can be incredibly powerful, but it is not always accessible to every student. Real World Studies helps bridge that gap by bringing global issues, sustainability and community-led learning into the classroom for free, helping young people build curiosity, empathy and confidence through real-world learning experiences.”
Camps International works with schools to deliver ethical overseas expeditions connected to long-term community and conservation projects across Latin America, East Africa and Southeast Asia.
