Amina Ebrahim

Amina is a Research Fellow at UNU-WIDER, specialising in the use of administrative tax data for applied research and policy evidence in developing countries. Her work spans research, policy engagement, and capacity building, with a focus on tax administration, tax policy, and strengthening domestic revenue mobilisation through better data and evidence.
She leads the Tax Research for Development project, coordinating collaborative research and policy partnerships across several African countries, working closely with revenue authorities and research partners to generate evidence for tax administration and policy reform and support secure access to sensitive tax data through tax data labs.
Her research sits at the intersection of public and labour economics, and development policy, with a particular focus on how administrative data can improve public decision-making. She regularly contributes to policy dialogue, workshops, conferences, and convenings on taxation, data systems, and revenue mobilization in Africa.
