Europe Faces Another Extreme Heat Summer After Record Spring
(MENAFN) Europe is expected to endure another summer of extreme heat following record-breaking spring temperatures and emerging climate patterns linked to rising warmth, according to forecasts.
The UK Met Office warns that the country may see a warmer-than-average summer, with a higher chance of heatwaves and related disruptions. It adds that conditions hotter than normal are now about twice as likely compared with previous climate averages.
The outlook comes after an unusually hot spring across parts of western Europe.
According to reports, “France, Britain and Portugal reported their hottest-ever May days as a ‘heat dome’ of warm air from northern Africa pushed temperatures well above normal levels across western Europe,” as stated by Meteo-France.
In the UK, temperatures reach 35.1C (95.1F) at Kew Gardens in London, marking the highest May reading ever recorded in the country.
Health impacts from early-season heat are already beginning to appear, according to reports.
