Bahrain Intercepts Three Iranian Missiles, Drones

(MENAFN) Bahrain announced Wednesday that its air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed three missiles and several drones allegedly launched from Iran toward targets within the kingdom.

According to a statement cited by reports, the Bahrain Defense Force said the projectiles were aimed at “civilian” locations and accused Iran of persisting in what it described as a "hostile approach" through missile and drone operations.

Authorities urged residents to remain alert and refrain from approaching any suspicious objects or debris that may have fallen as a result of the interceptions. The public was also encouraged to promptly notify security agencies of any such discoveries.

No immediate details were released regarding injuries, fatalities or property damage linked to the incident.

The announcement came amid heightened regional tensions following claims by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that it had targeted US military installations in Kuwait in response to an alleged American strike on Qeshm Island in southern Iran.

Separately, according to reports, US Central Command stated that "two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait fell short or broke apart enroute, and three missiles launched at Bahrain were immediately intercepted by US and Bahrain air defense forces."

The reported interceptions mark the latest escalation in a period of growing military confrontation across the region, according to reports.
