Zelenskyy Says Ukraine Strikes Russian Oil Terminal in St. Petersburg
(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday that Ukrainian forces carried out a series of long-range strikes against key facilities inside Russia, including the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Zelenskyy highlighted the distance of the operation, noting that the oil terminal is situated roughly 1,100 kilometers (684 miles) from Ukraine’s border, underscoring Kyiv’s ability to conduct deep strikes within Russian territory.
According to reports, Ukrainian forces also targeted military-related facilities at Russia’s Kronstadt base as part of the overnight operation.
Zelenskyy further said that a weapons manufacturing enterprise in Russia’s Tambov region was struck. The facility is located nearly 600 kilometers (373 miles) from the front line, according to reports.
On the Russian side, St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said that Ukrainian drones targeted infrastructure sites in the Kronstadt, Kirovsky and Krasnoselsky districts during the early hours of Wednesday.
According to reports, the attacks occurred ahead of a major economic forum in St. Petersburg, drawing attention to Ukraine’s continued efforts to strike strategic infrastructure and military-linked assets far from the battlefield.
