Israeli Airstrikes in Southern Lebanon Kill Twelve Amid Ceasefire Talks
(MENAFN) At least 12 people lost their lives and 16 others were wounded on Tuesday after a series of Israeli airstrikes struck multiple locations across southern Lebanon, despite the continued ceasefire and a fourth round of US-mediated discussions between Beirut and Tel Aviv taking place in Washington.
According to reports, a dentist and his two children were killed when an Israeli drone targeted their vehicle as they traveled along the Nabatieh–Khardali road.
Elsewhere, a separate drone strike hit a plant nursery in the town of Jebchit, killing two Syrian workers employed at the site.
Reports also said that two additional fatalities were recorded after drone attacks targeted a motorcycle in Toul and a vehicle in Ansar.
Another strike carried out by an Israeli drone hit a car near the Harouf-Toul roundabout, killing the driver.
In the Tyre district, an airstrike on the town of Shhour resulted in two deaths, while another attack on Burj al-Shamali left two people dead and 14 others injured, according to reports.
Israeli warplanes also bombed a Lebanese Civil Defense facility located on the Masil road in Kfar Sir, causing extensive damage and destroying the center.
The latest attacks occurred as diplomatic efforts continued to prevent further escalation, with representatives from Lebanon and Israel engaged in a new round of US-facilitated negotiations.
