Russian Strikes Reported Across Ukraine, Causing Power Disruptions

(MENAFN) A series of powerful explosions were reported overnight in Kyiv and several other regions of Ukraine as Russian forces carried out large-scale strikes on what Moscow described as military-related targets.

According to reports, the first explosions in the Ukrainian capital were heard shortly after 1:30 a.m. local time, with additional blasts occurring over the following hours. Videos circulating on social media appeared to show multiple impacts across the city, including footage in which a strong explosion was followed by widespread power outages, leaving parts of Kyiv without electricity.

Other recordings shared online captured repeated secondary detonations after the initial strikes, suggesting further explosions at affected locations. However, the precise nature and locations of the targets could not be independently verified, as Ukrainian authorities maintain restrictions on publishing information related to strike sites.

Russia's Defense Ministry confirmed that it had conducted a large-scale operation targeting facilities connected to Ukraine's military infrastructure. Moscow said the attacks were carried out in response to what it described as terrorist actions by the government of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Beyond Kyiv, reports also indicated explosions in areas of Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia that remain under Ukrainian control. Additional strikes were reported in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

The overnight attacks added to the ongoing military confrontation between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides continuing to exchange strikes amid the broader conflict. Information regarding casualties or the full extent of the damage was not immediately available.
