Global Educators Convene at Imperial College

(MENAFN) World leaders in higher education will gather in London starting Wednesday for a landmark two-day workshop confronting one of academia's most urgent challenges: how universities must adapt to survive and thrive in the age of artificial intelligence.

The Conscious Futures in Higher Education Workshop is being jointly organized by Türkiye-based Ibn Haldun University, the Social Humanities Basic Sciences Accreditation and Rating Association (STAR), and Qatar-based Hamad Bin Khalifa University, with Imperial College London serving as host institution.

The event will assemble senior university administrators, academics, quality assurance and accreditation specialists, policymakers, and representatives from leading international institutions, according to a statement issued by Ibn Haldun University. Core agenda items will span curriculum transformation, assessment and evaluation reform, academic standards, and institutional accountability — each examined through the lens of an AI-driven future.

Ibn Haldun University Rector Professor Atilla Arkan and Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) President Abdullah Eren are both expected at the opening session.
Day one will feature public addresses, an inaugural lecture, and panel discussions, while day two will shift to closed-door roundtable deliberations among senior participants.

The opening lecture will be delivered by Mutlu Cukurova, Professor of Learning and Artificial Intelligence at University College London, who will address the far-reaching impact of generative AI on education, the emerging competencies students will require, and how assessment models must be fundamentally redesigned in response.

A dedicated panel on Future Readiness, AI Governance and Institutional Trust will probe how universities can uphold academic standards, navigate rapid technological change, and sustain public confidence in institutional credibility.

Among the workshop's key deliverables will be the "Conscious Futures Imperial Declaration" — a formal document expected to enshrine shared principles on academic integrity, institutional governance, data security, and skills development for the AI era.
