Two IRGC Members Die in Explosion of War Remnants in Central Iran
(MENAFN) According to reports, two members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were killed in central Iran after an explosion involving unexploded or leftover munitions from recent US-Israeli strikes.
Local accounts said the incident took place at a military facility in Qom province, where personnel were reportedly stationed in defensive positions when the blast occurred. The explosion is said to have been triggered by projectiles that had remained in the area following earlier attacks, which Iranian authorities refer to as the “Ramadan War.”
The incident highlights continued risks from unexploded ordnance in areas affected by recent military activity.
Regional tensions have remained elevated since the US and Israel carried out strikes on Iran on February 28, prompting retaliatory attacks by Tehran against Israeli territory and US-aligned positions in the Gulf, along with the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
