IRGC Claims Missile Strike on MSC Sariska

(MENAFN) Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Monday that it carried out a cruise missile attack against the vessel MSC Sariska, describing the action as retaliation for an alleged US military strike on an Iranian ship in the Sea of Oman.

In a statement published by Iran’s state broadcaster, the IRGC accused the United States of launching what it called an “aggressive attack” on the Iranian vessel Lian Star in the Sea of Oman.

The paramilitary force alleged that MSC Sariska belonged to what it referred to as the “US-Zionist enemy” and said the vessel was selected as a target in response to the reported incident involving the Iranian ship.

According to the statement, the strike was carried out by the IRGC’s naval forces as part of a “retaliatory operation.”

Iranian authorities did not disclose the extent of any damage sustained by the vessel, nor did they provide information regarding potential injuries or fatalities.

The IRGC also issued a warning to Washington, saying any future military actions by US forces in the region would trigger a strong response from Tehran.

“Any act of aggression by the US military in this region will face a firm response,” the statement said.

No immediate comment was available from US officials regarding the IRGC’s claims.
