Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen Shatters All-Time Daily Flight Record

(MENAFN) Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen International Airport etched its name in aviation history on the final day of the Eid al-Adha holiday, processing a record-breaking 894 domestic and international takeoffs and landings in a single day — the highest daily flight traffic ever recorded at the facility, airport officials announced Monday.

The landmark figure was confirmed in an official statement by HEAS, the airport's ground authority, which described the milestone as the largest single-day flight count in the airport's operational history.

Crucially, the record volume was absorbed without disruption, made possible through seamless coordination between HEAS and terminal operator Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen (ISG), according to the statement.

HEAS shouldered responsibility for a broad range of critical backend operations throughout the surge, overseeing air traffic control services, apron management, technical infrastructure, and airspace safety. On the passenger-facing side, ISG teams maintained round-the-clock terminal operations across the holiday period, covering security, sanitation, passenger assistance, and broader customer services.

Airport officials said the record-breaking performance underscored Sabiha Gokcen's expanding operational capacity, reinforcing its strategic position and the strength of its technological infrastructure as one of the region's key aviation hubs.
