Pakistan PM Condemns Deadly Quetta Train Blast, Vows To Defeat Terrorism
In a statement posted on X, Sharif described the attack as a“cowardly act of terrorism” and said such violence would not weaken the resolve of the Pakistani people or security institutions.
Pakistani media reported that the powerful blast struck a train near the Chaman railway crossing in Balochistan on Sunday, killing at least 24 people and wounding several others.
According to witnesses, the explosion was so intense that it was heard across distant parts of Quetta and caused damage to nearby residential buildings and commercial areas.
The Quetta railway explosion came a day after deadly clashes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa left at least 29 people dead, including security personnel, militants and civilians, according to Pakistani authorities.
Pakistan has faced increasing insecurity in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in recent months, with authorities blaming militant groups for attacks targeting trains, police, military forces and public infrastructure.
