IRGC Claims Strike on US Base Following Alleged Attack Near Strait of Hormuz
(MENAFN) Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it carried out a strike against a US air base after what it described as an American attack on a telecommunications facility located on Sirik Island in southern Iran.
According to a statement cited by reports, the IRGC’s Aerospace Force said it targeted the base allegedly used by US forces to launch the operation against the communications tower on the island in Hormozgan province.
The Iranian force claimed the facility was successfully hit and destroyed during the retaliatory operation, which it said took place only hours after the reported attack.
The statement further asserted that all designated targets were struck as planned.
Iranian officials also warned that any future attacks would provoke a stronger response, stating that further action would be met with retaliation “different in scale and nature.”
The IRGC added that responsibility for any escalation resulting from such developments would lie with the United States.
At the time of the report, US authorities had not issued an immediate response to the Iranian claims.
