6.0-Magnitude Quake Rattles Central Chile Coast
(MENAFN) A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck off the coast of central Chile on Sunday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The earthquake occurred at 2134 GMT and was centered about 33 kilometers (20 miles) northwest of the port city of Valparaiso, the USGS said. The tremor was recorded at a depth of 25 kilometers (15.5 miles), indicating a moderately shallow seismic event beneath the Pacific Ocean.
