Iran Issues Warning Over Military Activity in Strait of Hormuz
(MENAFN) Iran has warned that any military vessels attempting to interfere with its management of the strategic Strait of Hormuz or disrupt maritime traffic could become targets of its armed forces, according to reports.
The statement, carried by Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, was issued by the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the country’s highest joint military command responsible for coordinating operations between the regular military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The headquarters said the management of the waterway is being carried out “with full authority” by Iran’s armed forces, emphasizing tight control over navigation in the region.
It added that all commercial ships, oil tankers, and other vessels must follow designated transit routes and obtain authorization from the IRGC Navy before passage.
According to the statement, any breach of these rules could expose vessels to serious security risks.
It also issued a direct warning to foreign military forces, saying that interference in Iran’s administration of the Strait or disruption of shipping lanes would not be tolerated.
