Malaysian National Dies After Philippines Building Collapse


(MENAFN) According to reports, a Malaysian citizen who was trapped in an apartment hotel adjacent to a collapsed structure in Angeles City, Pampanga province in the northern Philippines, has died following the incident.

Local media said the victim was among those affected after a nine-story building under construction suddenly collapsed early on Sunday, prompting large-scale rescue efforts in the area.

Rescue teams managed to save 26 people in total. Of these, 24 were pulled from the rubble of the collapsed structure itself, while two others were rescued from a nearby apartment hotel that was struck during the incident.

Authorities are continuing to assess the cause of the collapse as emergency operations in the area have now concluded.
