Hezbollah Claims Series of Strikes on Israeli Air Defense, Military Positions

(MENAFN) Hezbollah has stated that it carried out 12 separate attacks within a 24-hour period, targeting Israeli military positions in southern Lebanon and northern Israel, according to reports.

The group said the operations included strikes against military vehicles, drone jamming systems, and launchers associated with Israel’s Iron Dome air defense network. It described the actions as a response to what it called repeated Israeli ceasefire violations and attacks on villages in southern Lebanon.

According to reports, Hezbollah also claimed it used drones to target an Israeli military engineering vehicle in the Bint Jbeil area of southern Lebanon. In addition, it said it struck a technical installation and a command vehicle at a site in northern Israel, asserting that both operations achieved direct hits.

The group further reported engaging an Israeli Heron 1 drone over Lebanon’s Bekaa region with a surface-to-air missile, forcing it to withdraw from the airspace.

Additional claimed strikes included attacks on multiple Iron Dome launchers located at military bases, as well as anti-drone systems positioned in different areas. Hezbollah also said it targeted gatherings of Israeli troops using artillery and drone systems.

In recent months, the group’s use of advanced drones, including fiber-optic-guided models, has raised concerns in Israel due to their difficulty in detection and interception, according to reports. Israeli leadership has previously described such capabilities as a significant operational challenge and has called for improved countermeasures.

Casualty and displacement figures cited in reports indicate that thousands have been killed and large populations displaced amid ongoing cross-border escalations in the region.
