Building Collapses in Northern Philippines, 26 Rescued

(MENAFN) At least 26 people have been pulled to safety after a nine-story building under construction collapsed early Sunday in Angeles City, Pampanga province in the northern Philippines, local authorities confirmed.

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Angeles City said 24 survivors were extracted directly from the debris of the collapsed structure, while two additional individuals were rescued from a nearby aparthotel struck by the incident. Emergency response teams remain on the ground, actively searching for those still believed to be trapped beneath the rubble.

Earlier reports had indicated that at least 30 people were buried under the collapsed building, suggesting the rescue operation is still ongoing.
