Trump Says Iran Deal in Final Stages

(MENAFN) President Donald Trump declared Saturday that a historic agreement to end the war with Iran is on the cusp of finalization, signaling a potential breakthrough that would reopen a chokepoint controlling a significant share of global oil flows.

"An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other countries," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Trump said he convened a "very good call" with several regional leaders to discuss the prospective deal, and held a separate phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"Final aspects and details of the Deal are currently being discussed, and will be announced shortly. In addition to many other elements of the Agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened," he said.

Talks between Washington and Tehran, conducted through Islamabad, have centered on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions relief, and concerns surrounding Iran's nuclear capabilities.
