Turkish, Iranian Diplomats Review Tehran–Washington Talks

(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi held a phone conversation on Friday in which they reviewed the most recent updates in discussions between Tehran and Washington.

According to Turkish diplomatic sources, the exchange between the two top diplomats was conducted over a telephone call.

Regional frictions have intensified since the United States and Israel initiated strikes against Iran in February. In response, Tehran carried out retaliatory attacks targeting Israel, as well as US partners in the Gulf region, alongside the shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz.

A ceasefire came into force on April 8 through mediation by Pakistan, although subsequent negotiations held in Islamabad did not result in a durable settlement. Later, US President Donald Trump prolonged the truce indefinitely.
