Italy, Ireland Address Gaza Humanitarian Aid
(MENAFN) Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin reached a shared understanding on Friday regarding the necessity of guaranteeing humanitarian aid to Gaza, while also denouncing violence by settlers and ongoing Israeli settlement expansion.
Speaking at a joint press briefing in Rome after their discussions, Meloni stated that both sides “also agree on some fixed positions on the situation in Gaza and West Bank, without prejudicing Israel's right to security,”
She further emphasized that the two-state framework remains the “only possible just and lasting peace.”
Martin, for his part, highlighted the urgency of bringing an end to conflicts across the Middle East, including tensions involving Iran, Lebanon, and the Israeli-Palestinian situation.
"That will only emerge with a true commitment to diplomacy, to dialogue, to human rights and international law," he noted.
The Irish leader also stressed the importance of stopping violence in the occupied West Bank and halting settlement activity there, while underscoring the need to establish a credible and meaningful path toward dialogue.
