Turkish, US Top Diplomats Hold Talks in Sweden
(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday during the NATO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Helsingborg, Sweden, according to reports.
Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry stated on its social media platform NSosyal that the two officials held discussions on the sidelines of the gathering.
In a separate statement, the US State Department noted that Fidan and Rubio covered preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara, scheduled for July 7-8.
The discussions also focused on “the importance of increasing defense spending to enhance capabilities and expand defense production,” as well as diplomatic and strategic efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and maintain regional stability.
