Pakistan Army Chief Visits Tehran for Iran Mediation Talks
(MENAFN) Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, arrived in Tehran on Friday amid continuing efforts to mediate an end to the war that erupted on Feb. 28 following military strikes on Iran by Israel and the United States, according to reports.
Iranian media, citing the Pakistan Army, said Munir’s visit is part of Islamabad’s ongoing diplomatic initiative aimed at easing tensions and advancing negotiations.
"On arrival, he was received and warmly welcomed by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni," the report stated.
"Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was also present at the reception," according to the news agency.
This marks Munir’s second visit to Tehran since Pakistan intensified its mediation role in efforts to stop the conflict that began earlier this year.
According to Pakistani sources, discussions during the trip are expected to focus on Iran-US negotiations, broader regional peace and stability, along with several other "important issues."
