Finland Reaffirms Call for Proper Treatment of Gaza Flotilla Activists

(MENAFN) Finland’s Foreign Ministry has reiterated its demand for the respectful treatment of activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla during a meeting with the Israeli ambassador, according to a statement posted on social media.

The ministry said it had “reiterated its demands for respectful treatment of the participants in the Global Sumud Flotilla, the assurance of due process and safety, and the observance of international law,” during the discussion, according to reports.

It also noted that Israel is seeking to remove the detained individuals from its territory, while Finland continues to maintain contact with both the activists and Israeli authorities.

The statement comes amid wider controversy surrounding the detention of flotilla participants after Israeli forces intercepted the mission in international waters earlier in the week and took all activists on board into custody.

Separately, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir posted a video on social media showing detained pro-Palestinian activists who had been restrained after their arrest, a move that drew strong criticism domestically and internationally, according to reports.
