Gaza Flotilla Activists Get Deported to Turkey After Detention in Israel
(MENAFN) Activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla who were detained following the interception of their vessels in international waters are being flown to Türkiye on Thursday, according to reports.
The group had been held at Ketziot Prison before being transferred to Ramon Airport, where deportation procedures were completed, sources told a news agency.
More than 420 activists, including 78 Turkish nationals, were placed on three separate Turkish Airlines flights departing from Ramon Airport, according to reports.
The first aircraft bound for Istanbul departed after coordination with Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry, while additional flights were expected to arrive later the same day.
Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said earlier that a special flight arrangement had been organized to repatriate Turkish citizens and other international participants involved in the flotilla.
