Zelenskyy Pushes for Revival of Ukraine–Russia Peace Talks

(MENAFN) Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday that Ukraine is aiming to restart “meaningful” trilateral peace discussions with Russia in the coming weeks, following what he described as constructive engagement between Ukrainian and U.S. officials.

In his evening address shared on Telegram, Zelenskyy expressed hope that diplomatic momentum could soon translate into formal negotiations involving multiple parties, including European partners.

“If we can return to meaningful trilateral communication in these weeks and if we can involve the Europeans, that will be the right result. We, for our part, are ready for such appropriate steps. I expect that the partners will also be ready and that the Russians will not hide,” he said.

Alongside his diplomatic remarks, Zelenskyy raised concerns over potential military developments, accusing Russia of exploring plans for further strikes in northern Ukraine along the Chernihiv–Kyiv axis, including activity linked to Belarus.

He said Ukraine is already taking steps to strengthen its defenses in response, adding that preventive measures are being implemented in areas perceived as potential threat zones.

Zelenskyy also issued a warning to Belarus, stating that any direct involvement in the conflict would carry serious consequences. He criticized repeated suggestions of Belarusian participation in the war, describing them as an ongoing source of concern.

“Honestly, I am already tired of the constant threat to Ukraine that the Russians may at some point involve Belarus in the expansion of the war,” he said.
